The Kerala government has declared public holidays on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, and Thursday, December 11, 2025, in connection with the Election to the Local Bodies 2025.
The order applies to all public offices and educational institutions across the state. In addition, commercial undertakings have been instructed to grant paid holidays to their employees on the respective dates.
According to the official notification, the two holidays will be observed district-wise. This arrangement has been made to ensure smooth polling and effective participation of voters in their respective regions.
The government has clearly
outlined the distribution of the holidays across the state’s 14 districts, separating them into two groups based on polling schedules.
The announcement covers the entire public sector, including educational institutions of all levels.
It also ensures that employees working in commercial undertakings are not denied the opportunity to participate in the electoral process by mandating paid holiday provisions.
With polling set to take place on two separate dates, the state government aims to facilitate efficient voter turnout and maintain orderly conduct of the 2025 local body elections through this district-wise arrangement.
