India is steadily positioning itself as a major destination for international students, with foreign enrolments projected to rise at around 8% annually until 2030, according to a new report by global higher education analytics firm QS Quacquarelli Symonds.
The report, titled Global Student Flows: India 2026, highlights how shifting global
mobility trends, policy reforms, and regional demand are creating an opportunity for India to strengthen its role in international education.
However, the analysis also cautions that reputation gaps, employability concerns, and infrastructure limitations could slow the country’s ambitions unless addressed in the coming years.
