Full stack web developer, social media strategist, marketing growth hacker, community & outreach manager and mobile UI/UX designer - if none of these positions seem familiar, most of these positions did not even exist five years ago. So what are organisations looking for in prospective hires today?

TimesJobs.com asked Arun Jagannathan, CEO of Crack Verbal, an online test prep company for GMAT, GRE, and application services, to list four emerging skills employers want in candidates. Here is the list:

1. Ability to be a serial learner
This is the single-most important skill that your future employers are looking for. Your knowledge and skills of today could become redundant five years from now, thanks to superior technology. Employers are looking for employees who can flourish in this setting. They're looking for 'serial' learners.

2. Trans-disciplinary intelligence
In a world marked by information overload and a mind-boggling variety of problems

and solutions, employers are looking for people who can comprehend multiple perspectives and process many sources of information to derive solutions. In other words, the adage 'jack of all trades and master of none' has become a very desirable candidate trait!

3. Cross-cultural competency
While cross-cultural competency has long been a good-to-have skill, it is nearly a prerequisite now. You cannot be the proverbial frog in the well anymore simply because the well has been well and truly demolished. Your ability to deal creatively with diverse groups of people and achieve synergy is going to be valued highly in the market.

4. Articulation over different media
A decade ago, official communication happened either over email or in person. Today, with a smartphone in your hands, you are expected to be "on top of things" at all times. Your ability to communicate clearly and succinctly over multiple media such as email, Skype, SMS, and even WhatsApp has become a crucial skill.
