In order to participate in the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign, University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman M Jagadesh Kumar has instructed students to post selfies with the National Flag on the website -- www.harghartiranga.com. Furthermore, the Chairman said, students can pin their locations on the website.

According to UGC Chairman, the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is the largest programme of its kind worldwide in terms of scope and participation.

"On March 12, 2021, the nation began a 75-week countdown to the 75th anniversary of independence from Sabarmati Ashram launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," the Chairman



added.

The UGC Chairman in the meeting described the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign as part of a broader plan of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, adding that during the 75th Independence Day celebration, more than 20 crore households all over India will raise their National Flags to mark the occasion and to acknowledge the achievements of the country.

As part of the Independence Day celebration, UGC has directed schools, colleges, and educational institutions in the country to hoist the National Flag on their premises after 9 a.m. on August 15.

However, due to Covid-19 circumstances, the Commission also suggested a virtual ceremony for the flag housing ceremony.
