West Bengal Education Minister Partha Chatterjee announced that the state schools will be reopening on February 12 for classes 9 to 12. They will be reopening after 10 months of closure since March 16 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Several other states are also reopening schools this month while following the necessary safety guidelines. It has been decided that the school administrations

would also be monitored on how well they are implementing and following the Standard Operating Procedures.

The education minister also said that the schools were being sanitised thoroughly so students and teachers are not at risk of contracting the virus.

The consent of parents will be mandatory for attending physical classes. Also, physical attendance may not be compulsory for students.

This is insane. Why should our children go to school during times like these? Wouldn't it be better to have taken the vaccine and then reopen the school's to be on the safe side? I would not give consent to send my child to school and the classes plus the exams should be held online. They are children. They have been home for so long for this pandemic. Class 9 and 11th standards should not go to school. This is just a thought. We all want good for West Bengal.
