University Grants Commission (UGC) has written to Universities and  Higher Educational Institutions to make preparations for the Fit India movement to be launched tomorrow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his ‘Mann ki Baat’ programme on Sunday, had said that the government would launch the ‘Fit India’ movement with an aim to keep the country fit.

UGC Secretary, Prof. Rajnish Jain said that the Commission has urged the institutions to make necessary arrangements to encourage students,



teachers, staff and officials to assemble and take the fitness pledge which will be administered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the main event in New Delhi. He said, they have also been asked to prepare and implement an Institutional Fitness Plan.

Prof. Jain said, the universities and colleges have been requested to ask students, faculty members and officials to walk nearly ten thousand steps and promote healthy practices in the campus.
