Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank tweeted on Thursday that the national medical entrance exam NEET has been postponed. NEET was earlier scheduled to be held on May 3, but now it has been postponed to the last week of May 2020.

The final date for NEET 2020 will be decided after the situation regarding the Coronavirus pandemic normalizes.

NEET is conducted for admissions



to undergraduate MBBS, BDS and AYUSH programmes as well as veterinary courses in various medical colleges around India.

The HRD minister’s tweet states that he has asked the National Testing Agency (NTA) which conducts NEET and JEE to postpone the exams till the last week of May.

He also encourages students to stay at home and utilize the Covid-19 lockdown time to study for the postponed exams.
