Delhi University and DU colleges are conducting open-air classes in the fields so that social distancing can be maintained between students. DU reopened for physical classes with 100% capacity last week but the physical constraints are creating problems for students to maintain social distancing.

College teachers have been instructed to conduct lectures in open areas and in smaller batches to minimise infection risk. But this is putting a load on both students and teachers.

Considering the current situation, DU teachers are now trying to figure out the optimal mode of teaching so that Covid-19 protocols can be maintained while also ensuring that education isn’t

hampered.

A few of the college principals are of the opinion that things will take time to settle down since elhi University has reopened only after two years.

"We are trying to follow all Covid-19 protocols. As students are coming in large numbers, it is difficult to maintain social distancing,” said the principal of Hindu College, to PTI.

“There is also the problem of overcrowding. Social distancing is impossible but we have strict compliance of wearing of masks and other protocols," the principal said.

Students are also facing increased mental health problems because of the shift to the schedule of offline classes after two years of online learning.
