The State government has decided to hold the final round of web counselling for admissions into degree courses from September 7 to 9.

A decision to this effect was taken at a meeting convened by Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Education Kadiam Srihari with officials of higher education and Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) here on Wednesday.

Officials have ruled out spot admissions and also sliding of courses in the colleges. Only candidates who have registered under the Degree Online Services, Telangana (DOST) will be allowed to participate in this final phase. Close to 2,200 candidates had failed to get seats as they exercised less number of options for seat allotment or cancelled their seat allotment.

“Some candidates who have been allotted seats did not join college, while some others cancelled their allotments itself. Students who have registered on DOST can exercise

web options for the last time before admissions are closed,” said a senior official of TSCHE.

The seat allotment would be done on September 11. Students who would be allotted seats should report to colleges concerned on September 12 and 13.

Prof R Limbadri, Vice-Chairman-I and convener of DOST, has urged the candidates to choose as many colleges as possible in the web counselling so as to get seats as per merit.

Recently, close to 100 students along with their parents gave representation to the TSCHE requesting it to hold another round of counselling or permit colleges for holding spot admissions.

So far, 2,16,381 students have joined various degree colleges through DOST as against 2,15,172 last year. “As the final phase of counselling is yet to conclude, more number of students may join degree courses,” said a senior official.
