The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has forbidden the use of ChatGPT, an AI-based programme, in the class 10, 12, and board exams, according to officials.

Board exams for classes 10 and 12 started today, Wednesday. The board stated in its instructions distributed before to the exams that "mobile, ChatGPT, and other electronic gadgets will not be allowed in the examination venue."

According to board officials, using ChatGPT will be considered employing unfair tactics during the exam. There is a warning statement on the exam entrance card that reads, "You

shouldn't engage in any unethical behaviour. If discovered, you will be charged with using unfair means (UFM) activity, and the board will take appropriate action."

"Inside the exam centre, students are not permitted to bring any electronic devices. Using a gadget to access ChatGPT prevents the use of unfair techniques, "a senior board representative noted.

Launched in November 2022, ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) can produce writing that resembles human speech, songs, marketing copy, news items, student essays, and more dependent on the input it receives.
