Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Education Minister Ashish Sood on Saturday met parents of students studying in private schools from all over the national capital and assured them of fee regulation and transparency while determining the charges.

Parents thanked the education minister and chief minister for tabling a bill to cap school fees. They termed the bill as a "landmark decision" that would be good for both students and their parents, a statement said.

While speaking to the meeting, the chief minister assured the government would ensure that no harm is caused to students who pursue studies in the schools of Delhi. "If any school gives a parent or student a hassle about fees, they can

approach my office or the education minister directly," she stated.

The Delhi School Education (Transparency in Fixation and Regulation of Fee) Bill, 2025, was termed a historic step by the chief minister. The bill will cover all 1,677 private schools in Delhi, guaranteeing fee regulation through a transparent process, Gupta said in the statement.

The new system will ensure involvement from parents, school managements and other stakeholders in the fee fixation process, she added.

Gupta also informed that the government is setting up 65 new CM Shri Schools with quality facilities, which she is sure will motivate parents to seek government schools instead of private schools.
