The National Testing Agency (NTA) has issued a clarification on CUET (PG) 2026 after questions were raised on social media about certain subjects being held on multiple dates and whether normalisation was used in evaluation.

The agency explained that a small group of candidates had to be rescheduled due to unavoidable disruptions, while maintaining that the scoring system remained uniform for all applicants. It also stressed that CUET (PG) follows a system of absolute marks without any normalisation.

It clarified that in March 2026, a total of 565 candidates across 28 subjects were unable to appear for the exam on their scheduled dates due to a law-and-order disruption in Tura (Meghalaya) and security issues at certain overseas centres. These circumstances, the agency said, were beyond the control of

candidates.

The agency stated that its policy is to ensure that no candidate is disadvantaged due to external disruptions.

Accordingly, these 565 candidates were rescheduled to appear on 29 and 30 March 2026, which NTA described as a welfare-driven decision to maintain fairness in the examination process.

Addressing the main concern, NTA reiterated that CUET (PG) follows a system of absolute marks, meaning scores are calculated directly from performance without normalisation.

It clarified that no candidate, including those who appeared in rescheduled exams, was given any special scoring advantage or exemption. “There was therefore nothing the rescheduled candidates were exempted from,” the agency stated, adding that all candidates were evaluated on the same scoring basis.
