Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Tuesday announced new guidelines that will allow primary schools and Anganwadi centres to function on the same campus. The announcement was made at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi in the presence of Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi.
The initiative aims to connect the early childhood stage with formal schooling. It combines health, nutrition, and learning in a single framework, giving children a smoother start and Anganwadi workers a closer link with schools.
Speaking at the
launch, Annapurna Devi said the step fits into the larger vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 'Developed India'.
According to her, the future cannot be secured without first taking care of pregnant mothers, newborns, and pre-school children.
She also proposed a new learning module for Anganwadi workers who have not studied beyond class 12 but are keen to continue education.
Officials said this digital push will connect rural and semi-urban schools to resources that were earlier limited to cities.
