Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking at the Red Fort on the 79th Independence Day, announced a Rs 1 lakh crore plan to drive employment under the Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana.

Starting August 15, youth taking up their first private sector job will get Rs 15,000 directly from the government.

Employers generating more jobs will also receive incentives to encourage job creation across sectors, with a focus on manufacturing.

The Rs 99,446 crore scheme runs from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2027, aiming to create over 3.5 crore jobs, including 1.92 crore first-time entrants into the workforce.
