Amid the surge of Covid-19 cases, the schools and colleges of Assam have reopened from Monday by maintaining Covid-19 health protocols. After a gap of six months, the classes of 9, 10, 11 and 12 have resumed in the schools, colleges across the state.

The students of classes 9 to 12 arrived at their respective schools and colleges to attend classes; however, the attendance of students is very less in maximum schools.

School and college authorities have also arranged all safety measures for the students and they have been fully sanitized before resuming classes. Assam government has already issued a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to reopen the schools and colleges for the students of classes 9 to 12.

Geetanjali Bora, a student of B Borooah College of Guwahati, said that she is was feeling good about attending classes after a gap of six



months.

“I think, it is a very good decision taken by the government to reopen the schools, colleges,” Geetanjali Bora said.

According to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Secondary Education Department of the Assam government, classes for the students of 9 and 12 will be conducted on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and those for the students of classes 10 and 11 will be conducted on Thursday, Tuesday and Saturday.

"In any class, total number of students should be divided into two batches; if less than 20 students, a division in batch would not be required," said the government order.

"The first batch of students will attend classes from 9 am to 12 noon and the second batch of students will attend classes from 1 to 4 pm. The total number of teaching and non-teaching staff should be restricted to 50%," the order added.
