The Andhra Pradesh government has signed an MOU with the International Baccalaureate (IB), which is set to become a part of the State Council of Educational Research & Training (SCERT) to design the new curriculum. The agreement was signed in the presence of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at the camp office on Wednesday.

An IB office was established on Wednesday within the premises of the SCERT office in Vijayawada. This marks the second IB office in South Asia.

The collaboration will be rolled out in stages, beginning with capacity building and teacher training.

"It is with great satisfaction, I join this pivotal endeavour, to integrate International Baccalaureate (IB) program with government education, spanning from Class 1 to Class 12. The most important thing is the partnership, ensuring quality education which is going to be the most critical factor for the

upcoming generation, to be put up for a test, i.e., be it in employment opportunities, moulding them to become future leaders," said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

"The imperative is to elevate the standard of education in our country, aligning it with global benchmarks in terms of curriculum and learning development. This involves fostering problem-solving skills, transitioning from theory to practical application, and facing the challenge of uplifting educational standards," he said.

"This endeavour serves as a testimony to the transformation of the norm where International Baccalaureate (IB) is made accessible to government schools. By integrating IB into the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) board, the government aims to instigate a progressive transformation in curriculum, educational modules, and the establishment of new benchmarks," Chief Minister Reddy added.
