The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the seat matrix for NEET PG 2025 Round 2 counselling, announcing a total of 32,080 seats, which includes 17,623 clear vacancies, 11,837 virtual vacancies, and 2,620 newly added seats. These additional seats provide more opportunities for candidates applying under the All India Quota (AIQ). Virtual vacancies are seats currently held by candidates in Round 1 who may opt for upgrades in subsequent rounds.

The choice filling process is live on the official MCC portal (mcc.nic.in) and will remain open until 11:55 pm on December 9, while choice locking is scheduled between 4 pm and 11:55 pm the same day. Candidates must submit and lock their preferences within this window, after which the Round 2 seat allotment results will be announced on December 12.

This

round is open for candidates who were not allotted seats in Round 1 or those applying afresh for AIQ seats. Students who secured seats in the first round, totaling 26,889 candidates, are required to report to their respective colleges for document verification before the new round begins.

Among the most sought-after courses in the first round were MD General Medicine, MD Radiodiagnosis, and MD Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Candidates are advised to carefully review the updated seat matrix and submit their preferences promptly to maximise their chances of securing a seat.

With these additional seats, Round 2 counselling provides another opportunity for aspirants to join clinical and non-clinical postgraduate medical courses across India.
