Youth arrested for rape in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 25-year-old man, Basavaraju, was arrested by the Ameenpur police on Monday on charges of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl in a godown.

Basavaraju, who used to stay near the girl’s house, befriended her a few months ago. On July 11, he took her to the godown on a two-wheeler and raped her, the



police said.

The incident came to light when the girl informed her mother who lodged a complaint with the Ameenpur police on Monday. The police registered a rape case against Basavaraju, who has been charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act too.
