Woman kills sons, attempts to kill self over argument with husband in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A woman allegedly killed her two sons and attempted to die by suicide over marital discord with her husband at Meerpet on Sunday evening, the Rachakonda police said.

The woman, Nenavath Bharathi, is in a critical state, undergoing treatment at a hospital, the police said, identifying the boys as one-and-a-half-year-old N. Vicky and eight-month-old N. Lucky.

According to the police, the couple has been married for three years. The issue started when Srinivas’ mother visited their residence in Jillelaguda on Saturday evening, during which Bharathi and her mother-in-law had an



argument.

On Sunday morning, the issue aggravated after Bharathi’s parents visited them, following which Srinivas left home.

According to the police, Srinivas received a call from Bharathi around 4.30 pm, informing him that she had thrown their sons in water and she was going to die by suicide.

Srinivas rushed home and admitted his wife and children to the hospital, where both the children were declared dead. Bharathi was later shifted to Osmania Hospital.

Meerpet police SHO M. Mahender Reddy said a case was registered against Bharathi.
