Woman arrested for extortion in Hyderabad

The Cyber Crime Police on Thursday arrested a woman for cheating people under the guise of online dating chat and extorting huge amounts from victims after creating fake profiles on dating websites.

According to the police, Battu Rajeshwari, resident of Chaitanyapuri, used to trap her victims in the name of dating and later upload their family  photos accessed through their Facebook accounts.

The modus operandi involved booking movie tickets as part of dating.  Once the unsuspecting victim sent her an acknowledgement of the same through a mobile number, she would access Facebook account.After accessing all the family photos of the victims, she used to blackmail them and extort money based on their financial status, the police said.
