Bengaluru: Two cab drivers were arrested in Bengaluru on Thursday for the alleged kidnap and rape of a woman. Both the accused are in their twenties and residents of the Ejipura area in southern Bengaluru, police said.

According to a complaint filed by the survivor, the accused Akhilesh G of Ballari and Deepu JL from Hassan, followed her on bikes around 5.00 pm on Wednesday. She was en route to 10th Cross in Ejipura to see her residential site. 

The accused stopped  her and offered lift. When she declined, they forcibly took her away on one of the bikes to an isolated place at Huskur



near Electronics City, where they allegedly raped her.

The woman managed to escape from their captivity after some time and spent the whole night hiding in bushes, a report in Times of India said. Later on Thursday, she managed to reach out to some residents, who gave her clothing and helped to file a complaint with the police.
Viveknagar police have booked Deepu and Akhilesh under charges of kidnapping and gangrape. DCP (central) Srinivas Gowda R formed a team headed by inspector K Kantharaj to arrest the accused, the report added. They were nabbed on the same day and remanded to judicial custody.
