Hyderabad: A woman nurse was found murdered, allegedly by her friend, in a lodge in Chandanagar on Sunday. The man, who was seen with her in the city, was arrested from a hospital in Guntur.

The nurse, G Naga Chaitanya (24), was working at a private hospital in Nallagandla and was a native of Andhra Pradesh. She came to the city a few months ago and joined the hospital. On Saturday evening, she, along with her friend G Koti Reddy, booked a room at a lodge in Chandanagar. On Monday morning, she was found dead in the room with stab injuries in the stomach and neck. The police shifted the body to Osmania General Hospital mortuary after registering a case.

“We suspect that Koti Reddy killed her and tried to screen the evidence to portray it as a suicide. Investigation is going on,” Inspector (Chandanagar) K Kastro said.

According to the sources, Naga Chaitanya and Reddy were in a relationship and were planning to get married. However, Reddy’s relatives opposed the

marriage after which she came to Hyderabad and started working in the hospital. On Friday, Reddy reached the city and met her, with both of them going for shopping on Saturday. They had checked into the lodge for staying in the night.

“Reddy locked the room from outside and left the next morning. On suspicion, the hotel management checked the room and found the body,” police said.

Reddy was later arrested from a hospital in Guntur. On questioning, he said they had decided to end their lives and Naga Chaitanya stabbed herself with a knife while he tried to end his life by hanging himself but failed.

“At the same time, he gave another version also saying he was not aware of what happened in the room or how he reached the hospital in Guntur,” police said, adding that preliminary indications were that Reddy allegedly killed the woman and fled to Guntur where he tried to end his life. The police are bringing him to the city.
