Mahabubnagar: A 14-year-old girl studying Class X at Kendriya Vidyalaya was allegedly raped and murdered by a sexual predator, who had befriended her on Facebook.

The girl, daughter of an Revenue department employee and resident of Jadcharla town, came in contact with a person named Yenugu Naveen Reddy (28), a native of Koheda village near Ibrahimpatnam, who runs a wheel alignment workshop at Alkapuri Colony in Nagole.

On August 27, the girl’s parents lodged a complaint with Jadcharla police that she had gone missing. The girl was studying in Kendriya Vidyalaya at Yenugonda in Mahabubnagar town.

The police traced and arrested the accused from Hayathnagar area during the late hours of Wednesday and brought him to Jadcharla. During interrogation, Naveen confessed to the crime and led the police to the crime scene, which was just a kilometre away from the victim’s



residence.

The accused revealed that he had befriended the girl through Facebook and had gone to Jadcharla at 6 pm on August 27, the same day when she was reported missing.

He took the girl into the woods at a secluded location near Shankarayapally thanda road located between Jadcharla and Mahabubnagar, where he attempted to rape her, according to the police.

The helpless girl resisted his attempt and in the fight which ensued between the two, she got injured. When he realised that he would get into trouble if the girl survived, he smashed her head with a boulder and killed her.

On thursday morning, Jadcharla police have sent clues team to the crime scene to gather evidence. The accused is in police custody and the post-mortem of the mortal remains of the girl was expected to be conducted during the day.
