Man held for killing wife

Mon 20 Apr 2015
Hyderabad: A 56-year-old watchman, who was accused of killing his wife, was arrested at Hashimabad Colony in Bandlagunda area, police said on Sunday. According to the Chandrayangutta police, Zakiya Begum, 48, a native of Bidar, Karnataka, wife of Md Shareef, died under mysterious circumstances due to severe head injuries late on Saturday night.

Preliminary enquiries by the police revealed that Shareef suspected that his wife was having an illicit relationship with another man. Shareef, who was working as a watchman at MM Garden in Hashimadbad Colony since five years, had

complained to police that Zakiya had died due to a fatal fall. However, the investigating officers collected incriminating evidence in the post-mortem report which threw light on injuries in her head and stomach.

“Shareef not alerting the police immediately after learning about his wife’s death also pointed the needle of suspicion at him,” inspector N Rama Rao said adding that he tried to convince the police that he tried to shift his wife to a hospital and called an ambulance. A case has been registered under Section 302 (Murder) of the IPC.
