Maid caught of stealing gold ornaments

The Afzalgunj police on Tuesday arrested a housemaid Mukera Bhagya Rekha of Maharajgunj on charge of stealing gold ornaments from her employer’s house four days ago. The police seized the gold ornaments worth Rs. 8 lakh at her instance.

The woman was working at the house of Naveena Gupta at Maharajgunj for the last ten months. On February, 20 Rekha sneaked into the bedroom on the second



floor, opened the almirah and took Rs. 800 cash, a diamond necklace and other gold ornaments and left, DCP (east) Dr. V Ravinder said. After noticing cash and jewellery missing, Naveena tried to contact Rekha, but her mobile was switched off. Following a complaint lodged, the Detective Inspector of Afzalgunj, M Praveen Kumar and his team caught Rekha and recovered the stolen property.
