Warangal: A woman and her children killed their 80-year-old grandfather Jalli Saraiah in Hanamkonda district reportedly over a property issues, The police arrested Rama Devi and her children Jalli Sai Krishna, 21, and Shashi Kumar, 17, Hasanparthy mandal circle inspector Suresh said. After the death of Rama Devi’s husband Ramesh following kidney problems nine years back, she and her two children shifted to Saraiah house in Hasanparthy village.

Saraiah’s daughters, two of whom were married, started to exert pressure on him to write the leftover property — the house in which Saraiah and his grandchildren were staying —in their name. Rama Devi and her children

opposed them and insisted that their grandfather not take such a decision. They, however, suspected that he had already willed the house to his daughters. Early on Monday morning, police said, Saraiah and Rama Devi quarrelled over the issue of collecting water from a tap.

Following this, Rama Devi and her family beat Saraiah with his walking stick. Saraiah fell on a rock and received serious injuries on the head and died on the spot. Later, Sai Krishna and Shashi Kumar along with Rama Devi surrendered before police in the Hasanparthy police station. The police registered the case and started an investigation.
