The Petbasheerabad police on Sunday solved a theft case and recovered Rs 75 lakh cash stolen from a house in Kompally.

According to the police, the house owner, Dr Jala Bapu Reddy, and his wife Laxmi kept the cash in the house on Friday after they sold a land parcel at Kothur in Siddipet district.

“The accused, Ravi Kumar, who is the couple’s driver, saw the woman counting the cash in the house. When Reddy and Laxmi went out on some work, the accused entered

the house through the window and took the money after opening the cupboard with the keys kept nearby. He hid the amount on the terrace and planned to take it the next day,” said PV Padmaja, DCP Balanagar.

The next morning, the couple realised that the cash was missing and after enquiries lodged a complaint with the police. The police suspected the driver and on questioning him, Ravi confessed to the theft. The police recovered the money from him.
