An intermediate student died after she jumped from the second floor of her house in Kamalanagar Colony in Chaitanyapuri late on Monday night.
According to Saroornagar police, the victim was identified as Chandrika, 17, a second year student of Narayana Junior College. She was the daughter of A Arjun, detective inspector at Tukaramgate Police Station. Interestingly, the inspector was at home when the incident took place.
None of the family members or neighbours noticed the death till the GHMC sweepers arrived for daily chores in the wee hours of Tuesday. The reasons for her taking the extreme step are yet to be ascertained.
“We will investigate whether the girl had faced any harassment by the college management,” inspector Laxminarayana said. A case has been registered under Section 174 (suspicious death) of the CrPC. Further probe is on.
