New Delhi: The Delhi Police have finally managed to arrest a woman who is accused of murdering her husband with the help of her paramour Kamal Singla in 2011.

The accused woman has been identified as 28-year-old Shakuntala. She was married to one Ravi Kumar against her wishes when she was 18. The accused was dating a man at the time of her marriage and the two decided to bump off Ravi to get rid of him.

After killing Ravi, the accused buried his body in Rajasthan's Alwar where Kamal had a business, according to a report in Times of India.

After sometime later, the couple exhumed Ravi's body and threw his remains over a 70-km stretch between Alwar and Rewari in Haryana believing the police won't be able to solve the murder mystery.

Later, Shakuntala and her boyfriend started living together and got married in 2017. As there was no headway in the case by local

police, the case was transferred to crime branch.

Then one day, the cops were tipped off about the couple's location in Rajasthan in 2018 and they managed to arrest Kamal while Shakuntala managed to flee from the spot.

She was finally arrested by crime branch cops in Alwar after they were alerted by an acquaintance of her. Police had announced a reward of Rs 50,000 for information leading to her arrest.

"The team spent nearly fortnight in Alwar and conducted a door-to-door inquiry and finally arrested her on July 17. She was produced before a court and sent to two days remand for interrogation," the report quoted Alok Kumar, Joint Commissioner (Crime).

Initially, Shakuntala told police that her husband Ravi got to know about her affair with Kamal and restricted her movement and stopped her from talking on phones. And this was when she decided to kill him with help from Kamal.
