Daily wager held for raping minor girl in Nirmal

Nirmal: A 45-year-old daily wage earner was arrested for allegedly outraging the modesty of a two-and-half year old girl in Nirmal town on Thursday. He was produced before court later.

Chintala Narayana, a resident of Edgaon, was booked on charges of sexually assaulting the girl who was his neighbour, police said, adding that a case was registered against him under POCSO.

Narayana committed the crime under the guise of playing with her when he was in an inebriated condition on Wednesday. The girl’s parents noticed his act and



with the help of locals, caught him and handed him over to police. They called up the police on the emergency number to report the crime. The incident created a flutter in the town.

Meanwhile, Forest Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy, in a statement, said stern action would be taken against the offender. He instructed investigating officials to file a charge-sheet after completing the probe at the earliest. Steps should be taken to ensure that the accused is punished, the Minister said, adding that all support would be extended to the family of the victim.
