Kakinada: Konda Venkateswara Rao (58), an extension officer working with the panchayat raj department, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at the Mandal Parishad Development Office of Allavaram in B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema district on Thursday.

Amalapuram DSP M. Ambika Prasad said Venkateswara Rao had been working at the office on Wednesday till late. A Class IV employee told the official that he would lock the office if the official goes home. However, Venkateswara Rao asked him to go home, as he had to complete his work. Following this, the Class IV employee left.

However, when the data operator arrived at the office, he found Venkateswara Rao hanging from the ceiling fan and contacted police.
Allavaram police rushed to the spot.

The DSP said Venkateswara Rao left a suicide note saying he is taking his life unable to bear the work pressure. Ambika Prasad disclosed that the official had also been under pressure due to family issues.

Allavaram police have registered a case.
