Hyderabad: A minor girl was allegedly harassed by a man in Mailardevpally on Monday.

The suspect, Balraj (48), working as a labourer for a private firm, was the owner of the house where the girl and her family used to stay earlier.

According to the police, Balraj went to the 14-year-old girl’s new house in the absence of her parents and misbehaved with her. The girl who was scared by his behaviour raised an alarm. “She resisted

him and screamed. Her present houseowner who heard her cries rushed to her rescue,” the police said, adding that by then, Balraj fled the spot.

The girl informed her parents when they returned home. Based on a complaint lodged by her mother, the Mailardevpally police booked a case of outraging the modesty of woman and under sections of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Efforts are on to nab Balraj.
