Conman robs family of 1.5 crore in Hyderabad

A self-styled ‘spiritual baba’ turned conman and swindled a family of cash and jewellery, worth Rs 1.5 crore at MLA Colony in Banajara Hills on Wednesday night. 

According to police, an industrialist G Mahdusudhan Reddy had invited the ‘spiritual baba’ to perform ‘puja’ at his house. The ‘puja’ was intended to drive out ‘shani’ (evil). Along with him, his wife and teenage son also took part in the



ritual.

After the ‘puja’, the baba had allegedly distributed ‘prasadam’ and on eating it, Madhusudhan Reddy, his wife and son fell unconscious. The baba allegedly fled with the booty. The industrialist, his wife and son were admitted to Apollo Hospital. More details will emerge after the victims regain conscious, the police said.
