A six-day-old baby girl was abducted by an unidentified woman from the Government Maternity Hospital in Koti on Tuesday. Later in the night, police dispatched special teams to Karnataka to rescue the baby after finding out that the accused boarded a bus to Bidar.

A week back, Vijaya, wife of a private employee, Nari from Manchal in Ranga Reddy district gave birth to a girl at the hospital. After the delivery, they went home with the baby.

On Monday morning, Vijaya and Nari came to the maternity hospital with the girl for a vaccination. When Nari went out to get photocopies of some documents, Vijaya waited with the baby in the

hospital.

Around noon, a woman came and started talking to Vijaya. As she was weak, the woman offered to help by getting the baby vaccinated.“The woman took the baby from Vijaya and left. As she did not return for a long time, Vijaya started looking for her and then informed her husband.

After failing to locate the baby, the couple alerted the hospital staff and we received a complaint,” Sultan Bazar inspector P Shiva Shankar Rao said.
Police analysed the CCTV camera footages and got the visuals of the accused. Apart from sending special teams, cops are also in contact with their Karnataka counterparts.
