New Delhi: A 25-year-old woman was gang-raped by a group of men at a south Delhi flat after they abducted her during the early hours of Sunday, the Delhi Police said.

An auto driver who had been routinely picking up the woman from her workplace informed the police about the incident.

Three persons—Aman (26), Deepak (20), and Akash (23)—were subsequently arrested from the flat where the gang-rape reportedly took place.  Another person, Rohit, was nabbed from a different location, but the woman told the police he was not involved in the rape, despite being present in the car used to abduct her. Two others are yet to be arrested.

The woman is employed as a wedding hostess by an event management company. A resident of west Delhi’s Uttam Nagar, she was on a visit to Defence Colony on Saturday night.

“Just as the woman was about to return home, four youths emerged from a white Hyundai Santro car and pulled her inside. One other person was driving the car. They drove her towards the Khanpur area,” a senior police officer told.

The woman’s screams for help went unheard because the driver took the car on an isolated route. The men reportedly took her to a flat in Dakshinpuri,

where one other person was already present. They then took turns to rape her, and when she resisted, assaulted her, said the woman.

Earlier on Saturday night, the woman had told an auto driver that she would call him to pick her up from Defence Colony. He had been picking her up from work and dropping her home regularly for the past one week.

When the woman did not summon him at the stipulated time, he called her, but could not reach her. She finally took his call at around 1 am, and told him about the gang-rape. The auto-driver then called the police, upon which a team was sent to meet him. Accompanied by him, the police team reached Dakshinpuri and found the woman standing by the roadside.

“She claimed she was gang-raped. She provided the vehicle’s registration number and led the police team to the flat where the crime took place,” said the officer.

Three suspects were arrested from the flat itself. The Santro car too was recovered from outside the flat. One other suspect, Rohit, was nabbed sometime later. “The woman said Rohit was there in the car and at the flat, but not involved in the rape,” added the officer.

The car was found to be registered in Aman’s name.
