Hyderabad: An 18-year-old man was tortured and murdered in public view over his reported relationship with a minor girl, after her family members caught them in a compromising position on Wednesday evening, the Pocharam said on Thursday.
The murder victim was allegedly in a relationship with the girl for four months and was visiting her at her residence while her family members were away. However, they were spotted by the girl’s uncle, who raised the alarm and informed her parents.
The girl’s family members, around 11 in number, went to the victim’s house in Lakshminagar Colony of Annojiguda, dragged him and tied him to a tree with a rope. They then
proceeded to undress him, threw chilli powder on him and assault him with sticks and fists, the police said.
"The victim suffered multiple fractures and bleeding injuries and died on the spot," Pocharam sub-inspector B. Nageshwar Rao said.
The police registered a case of illegal confinement against the 11 accused and arrested two of them. They said efforts are on to trace the others, who fled after the incident. "Our IT cell is tracking them through GPS location," a senior police officer said.
The police handed over the victim’s body to his family members after a post-mortem examination.
