Patna: A drug addict allegedly murdered his 23-year-old friend at a village in Patna district of Bihar on Saturday, reportedly after the latter refused to give him Rs 50 for buying ganja.

The incident took place at Pali village within the jurisdiction of Naubatpur police station. Police identified the victim as Pradeep Kumar. Around 11:30 am on Saturday, He was stabbed to death by his friend Prince Kumar, who is said to be addicted to drugs.

According to the police, Prince asked Pradeep for Rs 50 to buy a small packet of ganja. When Pradeep refused to give the money, an argument flared up between them.  Following this, Prince allegedly brought a knife to stab Pradeep. The drug addict then allegedly stabbed Pradeep four-five times in the chest and fled from the spot. Pradeep was dashed to a private medical facility for treatment but couldn't be saved.

The



post-mortem examination of the victim's body was performed at the Danapur sub-divisional hospital. Later, the body was handed over to the victim's family for his last rites. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim's brother, a case was registered under relevant sections, Naubatpur SHO Samrat Deepak Kumar said, adding that efforts are being made to apprehend the accused.

This comes days after a 30-year-old man and his 28-year-old wife were murdered in their sleep at their residence at Mani Ka Pura Mazra village within Soraon police station limits in the trans-Ganga area of Uttar Pradesh. The unidentified assailants, however, spared the couple's 10-month-old son. 

Hearing the cries of the infant boy, neighbours came rushing to the spot and found the couple murdered. Blood-soaked bodies of the man and his wife were found with their throats slit on different cots on the terrace, as per reports.
