New Delhi: The government has said Sovereign Green Bonds amounting to 16,000 crore rupees will be issued in the current financial year for mobilising resources for green infrastructure projects in the country.

In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said 8000 crore



rupees have already been raised in the first tranche of Sovereign Green Bonds. He said the proceeds will be deployed in public sector projects which help in reducing the economy’s carbon intensity. This is as per the Framework of Sovereign Green Bonds released recently by the Centre.
