Petrol price has been slashed by one rupee 46 paise per litre, while diesel price by one rupee 53 paise a litre excluding state levies the new rate came into effect midnight last night. consumer will have to pay 54 rupees 71 paise per litre in Delhi, 56 rupees 95 paise in Kolkata, 60 rupees 32 paise in Mumbai and 56 rupees 24 paise in Chennai. 
In a statement, Indian Oil Corporation said, the international prices of petrol and diesel and rupee-dollar exchange rate warrant a decrease in petrol and diesel prices.
