Netflix has introduced another change to how shared accounts work, and this time it is all about email addresses.
The streaming platform has started allowing individual profiles on shared subscriptions to be linked to their own unique email addresses, giving profile users more control over how they sign in and manage their viewing experience.
Until now, everyone using a shared Netflix account relied on the primary account holder’s email address for verification and account access.
With the new update, users can receive sign-in codes
directly to their own inboxes, making it easier to log in on new devices without having to ask the account owner for help.
The feature also gives profile users greater control over settings such as subtitle preferences, audio options and personalised recommendations, all without affecting other profiles on the account.
Netflix says the move is designed to make profiles more independent and personalised.
Users can add an email address through the Profile Settings section or by using a link provided in a notification email from the company.
