Senior Indian Revenue Service officer, Sushil Chandra will take over as chairman of the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) today. Chandra, a 1980-batch officer of Indian Revenue Service, is at present working in the board as Member (Investigation).

Minister had early this month approved the name of Mr Chandra as the CBDT Chairman to replace Rani Singh Nair who retired from service yesterday. CBDT has six members apart from the chairman, and is responsible for framing policy and administrative issues related to direct taxes and the Income Tax department.
