Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman met her French counterpart Bruno Le Maire on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors and the IMF-World Bank Annual Meetings in Marrakech, Morocco yesterday. The French Minister congratulated Ms Sitharaman on the outcomes of G20 under India's Presidency and also the G20 New Delhi Leaders Declaration adopted at the Leaders Summit.
 
Ms Sitharaman thanked Mr. Bruno Le Maire for the support France extended to India during its Presidency and also for their support as the co-chair of the G20 International Financial Architecture Working Group.
 
Both sides reflected that the world is facing newer global challenges and uncertainties continue to grow. The French Minister highlighted problems due to COVID-19 pandemic, increasing inflation, and recent wars. 

Ms. Sitharaman highlighted that multilateralism is the key to tackling these global issues and G20 as a platform has done well



in this respect the recent summit shows that the world can come to a common understanding on addressing such challenges.
 
She also met her Comoros counterpart Mze Abdou Mohamed Chanfiou on the sidelines of the meeting. Both the Ministers exchanged their views on issues like Digital Public Infrastructure, development partnership, and other areas of mutual cooperation.
 
Ms. Sitharaman also met her Moroccan counterpart Nadia Fettah Alaoui on the sidelines of the meeting. The two leaders discussed mutual issues related to trade and investment and G20-related issues including Digital Public Infrastructure and its inherent potential.
 
She also met President of World Bank Ajay Banga on the sidelines of the meeting. They discussed several issues related to India’s development priorities and global challenges - in the context of a bigger, better, and more effective World Bank.
