Minister of State for Food Processing Industries Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti has said cent percent Foreign Direct Investment in food processing sector is being actively considered by the Union Government. 
Addressing a conclave organized by the ASSOCHAM in Chennai on the sunrise sector, she expressed hope, the Finance Ministry’s approval for the proposal would be secured at the earliest to give a boost to the industry.Expressing



satisfaction over launching eight Mega Food Park projects across the country within the last two and a half years, the Minister said more such projects are in the pipeline. She expressed concern, food produces worth Rs 92-thousand crore are being wasted away every year due to lack of cold chains and storage facilities and said food processing would help check the wastage apart from giving value addition that would boost farmers’ income.
