Farmers in Sangrur took to burning stubble on Thursday morning in protest against the order to prevent plant material burning. Farmers have refused to abide by the order, expressing the govt should provide them grant if they require them to prevent burning plant material.

Five states–Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi–had issued notifications prohibiting agriculture crop residue burning to curb pollution. However, farmers say they haven’t gotten any financial facilitate from the govt however and don't have any choice but to burn the



residue.
