Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president and Hyderabad Member of Parliament Asaduddin Owaisi on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP had laid out a red carpet for those indulging in violence against small children, burning down properties and have become a parallel power centre.

“The Prime Minister has rightly said in Davos that he removed the red tape and laid a red carpet, but for whom did he lay the carpet? He surrendered and his party capitulated before these involved in violent stirs,” he said.

Owaisi said the so-called 56-inch chest of Modi was only for Muslims and when it came to the Karni Sena, it would shrink to12 inches, adding, “Mr Prime Minister and his party are involved in ‘Pakoda

Politics’ over Padmaavat controversy”.

He charged the government of getting the name of the movie changed and scenes cut to cater to the Rajput community’s sentiment, but when it came to the triple talaq legislation, it did not even bother to take the opinion of a Muslim community leader or organisation. Owaisi asked the government to give importance to governance and rule of law.

Addressing a public meeting late night on Wednesday in Tandur, Owaisi wondered what would have happened if the violence in Gurugram involved a Muslim and not a Hindu. “Wouldn’t the government and media have called him a terrorist? Why is utmost restraint shown in case of the Karni Sena,” he questioned.
