AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday objected to statements by the BJP and its allies claiming that the Supreme Court verdict on Ramjanmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute would be in their favour. “It is an insult to the apex court,” he said.

“How do they know the outcome will be in their favour?” Owaisi asked at a media meet, adding that the decision was the court’s not the BJP’s.
“Has the Supreme Court outsourced the judgment to the Shiv Sena’s leader?” He noted that the last court of appeal had fixed the deadline for hearing for October 18.

“We have full faith in the Supreme Court,” Owaisi said. He pointed out that the BJP and the Shiv Sena gave

statements with an eye to elections, but once the polls were over, they forgot the issue.

“It is unfortunate that at a time when the Court is hearing the case, obnoxious statements were made. It is contempt of court.”

Saying it was the Court’s prerogative to decide when to hear the matter and when to deliver the judgement, he pointed out that the Chief Justice of India was to retire in November. Owaisi wondered how the mediation letter written by the chairman of the Sunni Wakf Board was leaked to the media.

“What is the motive behind this?” he asked. “I do not understand this letter game.”
