Hyderabad: AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi on Tuesday said the Modi government is in a camatose state and failed to tackle the pandemic situation. He opposed imposing a fresh lockdown.

Speaking to the media here, Owaisi said the right to life is a fundamental right. The first duty of any government is to protect people's lives. Unfortunately, this is the consistent behaviour of the Modi goverrnment that it is clueless, lacks compassion, has no direction and is not in a position to control the pandemic situation.

He said India received atleast 300 tonnes of international emergency Covid aid, which is lying in Delhi Airport. What is Modi government doing to change the scenario for the better, he asked.

The government has informed the Supreme

Court that as far as oxygen supply and Covid situation were concerned, the Prime Minister and Home Minister were directly responsible. "Yet, why did you take five days to distribute this aid to the states? The PMO is not telling us what has happened to it.

Owaisi said, We are seeing only statements, promises being made by the government before the Supreme Court. On the ground, this are not moving. Even now hospitals in Delhi are crying for oxygen.

He asked why the Union Government has put a cap on the procurement of essential medicines. People are dying because you are not giving life-saving drugs. He pleaded that the government waive the import duty on medical equipment required to tackle the Coronavirus pandemic.
