All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi remarked on Sunday that the architectural design of the new Telangana Secretariat building was inspired by numerous temples, referring to the structure as a symbol of Telangana's inclusive growth story.

He was responding to a certain Al Bhagwa who goes with the handle (@BeingBhagwa) tweeted to Owaisi stating that the design seems to be a 'makbara'. "It appears to be a Makbara. Was it constructed for the burial of someone ," Al Bhagwa tweeted.

Owaisi's comments followed BJP president Bandi Sanjay Kumar's accusation that the state government commissioned the design of the domes of the new state Secretariat building to portray Nizam culture. Sanjay had stated that the structure was created against Telangana tradition, with only two "pits" associated to Hindus in the entire Secretariat, while the rest of the building was built to please  Owaisi.

Owaisi, the Hyderabad MP,

stated in a series of tweets on Sunday that the Secretariat building was designed in the style of the Kakatiya period's Neelakanteswara Swamy temple in Nizamabad, the gopurams and designs of the rajaprasads were of the Wanaparthy Samasthan, and the pattern was from the Hanuman temple in Sarangapur, Gujarat.

"Will you still say ……. Ah a Waqf Registered Masjid was illegally demolished during the construction which has now been reconstructed again which is again a first instance of a reconstruction of a demolished Masjid. The Government did also assure the High Court of Telangana. Sir Imarat to Khoobsurat hai yeh aur Baat hai ke Wazir e Azam nahin banasaka," he added taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He congratulated BRS president and Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on naming the Secretariat in honour of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.  "The building must remain a symbol for Telangana’s inclusive growth story," he remarked.
