Hyderabad: The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen has charged the BJP government in Gujarat of utter failure in ensuring safety and security of migrants from north Indian states who have been fleeing Gujarat in droves over the past few days fearing for their lives.

It may be recalled that for a little more than a week, there have been attacks on people from north Indian and north-eastern states in Gujarat following the arrest of a man from Bihar for the alleged rape of a 14-month old girl in Gujarat’s Sabarkantha district. The attacks have prompted people from the other states to rush out of Gujarat fearing for their lives.

AIMIM president Adaduddin Owaisi said the mass exodus of north Indians from the BJP led Gujarat and the psychosis of fear that has gripped north Indians in that state is nothing but failure of that government in ensuring law and order in Gujarat.

He also took aim at UP Chief Minister Adityanath and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar leading two of the most affected states by the exodus from Gujarat of not taking any steps to ensure safety and security of their people in the western Indian State.

The UP and Bihar Chief Ministers have the responsibility to meet with people from their states in Gujarat, instill confidence in them and ensure their safe travel back home, he said.

The UP Chief Minister who has been leading his government into encountering innocent people, has not done anything to ensure safety of his people in Gujarat. “Why does he not go to Gujarat? It is his party that is also in power there,” Owaisi said.

On Nitish Kumar, Owaisi said the Bihar Chief Minister is a partner in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance. “It takes just a couple of hours to get there. Why does he not go?” Owaisi asked.

All they are doing is merely paying lip service and making some comments on the situation in Gujarat. Despite being in the BJP and a BJP ally, they are really not bothered or care about the plight of people from their own states, the AIMIM president said.
