Chief Minister and Leader of the House K Chandrashekar Rao was on his legs to counter the criticism launched by AIMIM Floor Leader Akbaruddin Owaisi who alleged that the State government had failed to recognise the services of corona warriors besides failing in fathoming the impact of the pandemic on its economy.

Akbaruddin was responding to a statement by Health Minister E Rajender on the floor of the house during the short discussion on Covid Impact and Measures in the State Assembly on Wednesday.

“The Health Minister thought that the information he gave was sufficient for the members to understand where Telangana stands with regard to Covid. If you want the whole ‘Mahabharata’, we will send that information to you,” Chief Minister said even as the MIM leader refused to yield and continued shouting. When the Chief Minister said why he was shouting, he shot back saying that his voice was always loud.

“The information you are asking for is available and it will be sent to you. Now on the issue of impact, the impact of the pandemic is all over the world, the country and the State. Schools are closed, Metro was closed, can’t mention all of that as the statement will become 200 pages that is why I called Mahabharata, but you can’t say that the government is a failure,” Chief Minister said. At this juncture Akabarudin said that he never said that the government has failed but simply said that all these details were not incorporated in the

statement.

Chief Minister reminded Akbaruddin that the government of Telangana is the first to announce incentives to doctors paramedical staff, municipal workers and sanitation workers as it has recognised their role in the combat against the pandemic. “We also gave ration to migrant workers. The member has every right to say what he wants more information but wrong message should not go from this august house, that we have failed to deliver,” Chief Minister said.

“I don’t know why the Chief Minister is getting so angry when I am saluting the corona warriors. Am I wrong,” Akabarudin quipped. Chief Minister stood again and objected to the inference that the MIM leader made and said that Akbar was just playing to the gallery. “Who has objected when you saluted for the corona warriors. Who said no. We shared their sorrow and lot many things were done for them,” he said.

However at the end of the discussion on Covid, the MIM leader in a reconciliatory tone, has mentioned that the Chief Minister is man who keeps his word and said that he has agreed to rebuild two mosques that were damaged during demolition of old secretariat and said that he even agreed to handover the land in-between the two structures also to the Wakf for development.

“I believe in God and anyone who believes in God respects all religions. Mosques will be built where they were standing and there will be a Temple and also a Church in the secretariat premises,” Chief Minister said.
